Vinson Process Controls, a leading provider of improved industrial operating performance and reliability, is offering an opportunity for a DeltaV Systems Specialist. This position will be based out of either our Tulsa, OK or Oklahoma City, OK office locations. Vinson Process Controls is an Emerson Impact Partner with an 80+ year history of developing process automation solutions for major industrial manufacturers in the Southwest.
The DeltaV Systems Specialist must be a value-adding resource for new and current DeltaV users, who will help to initiate and maintain a reliable DeltaV control system as a core member of the Vinson Lifecycle Support group.  The effective DeltaV Systems Specialist will act as a subject matter expert related to the DeltaV System hardware, electrical, communications, PCs/Networking, configuration, and controls aspects of a modern DCS and through this role will look for system performance improvements leading to better operational results for both the customer and Vinson.
  • Analyze Power and Grounding (As Found and Requirements)
  • Perform Site Initialization and Inspection
  • DeltaV PC/Server and Networking Equipment setup and configuration
  • Install, configure, and maintain assets relating to DeltaV systems across site.  These include, but are not limited to servers, workstations, networking equipment, storage systems, racks, cabling, software
  • Install and support DeltaV DCS software
  • Install and support for Emerson AMS Device Manager
  • Perform and maintain elements of DCS management and administration SOP, including, but not limited to, OS patching, Anti-Virus updating, contingency response, and system security
  • Perform system backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Onsite control system modifications and tuning
  • Assist in Factory and Site Acceptance Tests
  • Commissioning and Loop-check Activities (including DeltaV configuration changes and navigating DeltaV applications)
  • Initialize and Troubleshoot Communications: Ethernet, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, DeviceNet
  • Ability to use background and experience to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems and instrumentation
  • Coordinate software and hardware upgrades for production plants
  • Perform above duties with attention to safety in both work practices and planning
  • Perform above duties with a focus on team work and customer satisfaction
Education, Skills and/or Experience:
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Relevant Technical Degree
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience performing similar work in DCS and instrumentation
  • Proficiency in A/C and D/C power and grounding
  • Proficiency in the use of electrical test equipment
  • Experienced with DCS and/or PLC control systems
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computers and associated operating systems
  • Competency in motor controls and instrumentation
  • Competency in Ethernet-based and Twisted Pair communications protocols
  • Experience with design and reading/interpretation of engineering design documents such as P&IDs, Electrical One Lines, Plot Plans
  • Ideal candidate has DeltaV training and experience
  • Ability to function in a high stress environment during Testing, Start-ups, Troubleshooting and Deployment
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who can be effective in a team or a solo assignment
  • Must have the ability to prioritize activities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to provide clear and timely written documentation including field service reports, project updates, and time and expense reports
  • Able and willing to travel via airplane or long (4-6 hour) car trips to/from customer sites for short visits and/or extended stay visits of a week or longer.  Overnight travel is anticipated at an average of 35-40%.
