Vinson is a leading distributor of industrial process control, pressure protection, control systems, and services in the southwest region of the US including North, East, West Texas, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas, and New Mexico. 
 
Vinson Process Controls, a provider of Emerson’s DeltaV System process automation and software systems to the process manufacturing industries, is hiring recent graduates for our development program to provide technical services for our clients.  In this position, the systems engineer will gain experience working as part of a team with clients to develop functional requirements, design standards, DeltaV system configuration, and system integration to other subsystems.   Engaged in various use cases, such as continuous and batch process control, burner management, and safety systems. The work will be primarily performed in office but will require some extended periods of sitework during the deployment and startup of these systems.  
  • DeltaV configuration including developing graphical displays, analog control schemes, shutdown and alarm logic, third party system integration and data management
  • Perform P&ID take-offs utilizing Microsoft Access for analysis and configuration of the system database
  • Participate in client-witnessed software acceptance tests using various loopback and simulation tools
  • Perform onsite system commissioning, loop checks, cutovers, and startup/loop tuning
  • Participate in Front End studies and development of functional design specifications
  • Participate in the development of cutover plans, including “hot” cutovers
Integrate various subsystems such as PLCs, third party controllers, and historians

  Education, Skills and/or Experience:

·         Bachelor of Science degree in relevant technical degree, B.S. EE or B.S. ChE preferred

·         Coursework should include controls theory, fluid mechanics, and/or electrical systems

·         Familiarity with reading/interpretation engineering design documents such as P&IDs, Electrical One Lines, and Plot Plans

·         Relevant internship or co-op experience is a plus

 

Physical and Mental:

·         Ability to function in a high stress environment during outages, cutovers, and start-ups

·         Highly motivated, self-starter who can be effective in a team or a solo assignment

·         Must have the ability to prioritize activities and meet deadlines

·         Ability to provide clear and timely written documentation such as functional specifications

·         Able to travel via airplane or long (4-6 hour) car trips to/from customer sites for short visits and/or extended stay visits of a week.  Annual overnight regional travel is estimated at average of 25%

·         Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs.

·         Ability to climb stairs or ladders in a plant environment.

·         Ability to utilize a computer screen for extended (4-8 hours) time periods.

·         Ability to accurately discern between primary and secondary color schemes.
