Systems Engineer - DX

Vinson is a leading distributor of industrial process control, pressure protection, control systems, and services in the southwest region of the US including North, East, West Texas, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas, and New Mexico. 
 
Vinson is hiring a highly motivated, technology-forward person to provide technical leadership and project execution to our industrial clients for deployment and support of digital transformation initiatives.  Focused on the “operational technology” aspects of these initiatives, the role will include the implementation of solutions providing improved data visualization, data integration, and analytics applications. The outcomes from these solutions will provide our clients with improvements in automated workflows, organizational decision support, worker upskilling/effectiveness, and mobility.

• Assist clients with benchmarking and digital transformation roadmap
• Perform front end studies and proof of concept projects on behalf of our clients
• Serve as project manager and/or technical lead for project implementation
• Coordinate and support business development efforts with the extended sales team
• Ensures that customers are delighted with the outcome of the delivered solutions, on-time/on-budget and meets or exceeds customer requirements
• Provide organizational awareness and situational fluency across the broader team

Education, Skills and/or Experience:

·        BS/MS technical degree from an accredited university in computer science, engineering, or information technology, with preference to Petroleum Engineering or Chemical Engineering

·        At least 3-5 years of demonstrated successful related experience, including dealing with automation and/or IT projects, with emphasis on data management and analysis

·        Good written and verbal communications skills and shall be comfortable with public speaking/presentations

·        Experience working with various relevant programming languages (HTML, C#, Python/Java, Node Red) and protocols (Modbus TCP, Ethernet IP MQTT, OPC UA, XML), and Databases (SQL, Influx DB, Mongo DB)

·        Familiarity with IT networking technologies and architectures, plus familiarity with cybersecurity requirements

·        Ability to remain effective when dealing with multiple concurrent projects and/or with ambiguous situations.

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills including public speaking with peer teams and clients

·        Experience in process manufacturing industries, such oil and gas, refining, chemical, pulp and paper, power, food and beverage, and/or pharmaceutical, with preference to oil and gas and downstream refining or chemical

·        Working history with RTU’s, PLC’s, SCADA Systems, or DCS systems.

·        Experience working with Edge Technologies in an industrial environment a plus.

·        Exposure with Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and/or Business Intelligence software

·        Data analysis and related data science experience

·        Development of solutions in Docker/Container environment

Physical and Mental:

·        Ability to travel at least 4-6 hours in a car

·        Shall be able to lift and carry weight of at least 40 pounds

·        Shall be able to “walk through” plant sites, including climbing ladders and being “safety” aware
·        Overnight regional travel of approximately 35% is estimated for this position.  Travel will be primarily by auto, but some air travel may be required.
