Vinson Process Controls, a leading provider of process automation and software systems to the process manufacturing industries, is hiring a growth position to provide technical services related to Emerson’s DeltaV System platform.  In this position, the systems engineer will work with clients to develop functional requirements, design standards, system configuration, and system integration to other subsystems.  The work will be primarily performed in the office but will require some extended periods of site work during the deployment and startup of these systems.
  • Engaged in various use cases, such as process control, burner management, safety systems, and data management (across L2 and between L2/L3)
  • Participate in FEED studies and development of detailed design specifications
  • System software configuration including graphical visualization, control logic, and data management and associated integration
  • Lead client-witnessed software acceptance tests using various loopback and simulation tools
  • Engaged in the development of cutover plans, including “hot” cutovers
  • Perform onsite system commissioning, loop checks, cutovers, and startup/loop tuning
Integrate various subsystems such as PLCs, third party controllers, and historians
  Education, Skills and/or Experience:
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Relevant Technical Degree, B.S. EE or B.S. ChE preferred
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience, with in plant-experience being ideal case
  • Good understanding/working knowledge of various industrial network protocols, including but not limited to:  Modbus, Ethernet IP, Devicenet, Profi-bus, OPC
  • Proficiency in low-voltage A/C (480V and below), D/C power, and grounding
  • Experienced with DCS and/or PLC control systems, as well as HMIs/PC Networking requirements
  • Competency in motor controls, MCCs, VFDs, and process instrumentation
  • Experience with design and reading/interpretation/redlining of engineering design documents such as P&IDs, Electrical One Lines, Plot Plans
 Physical and Mental:
  • Ability to function in a high stress environment during outages, cutovers, and start-ups
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who can be effective in a team or a solo assignment
  • Must have the ability to prioritize activities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to provide clear and timely written documentation such as functional specifications
  • Able to travel via airplane or long (4-6 hour) car trips to/from customer sites for short visits and/or extended stay visits of a week or longer.  Annual overnight travel is estimated at average of 30-40%
