Vinson Process Controls Company, L.P., a leading distributor of industrial process control equipment, pressure management, control systems, and services in the southwest region of the US including North, East, and West Texas, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas, and New Mexico.
 
This position is for the role of a Business Development Manager responsible for supporting new business identification and growth focused on Steam products and services. We are seeking an exceptional Steam Solutions Specialist to drive sales and establish relationships with accounts in Downstream industries within Vinson’s territory. This role will involve consultative technical selling, providing expertise in energy management to increase production, meet sustainability goals, and improve operational safety for our customers.  This position will entail independent and collaborative sales within a team, strategic goal setting, development of key accounts, as well as maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions while maximizing financial opportunities. This position involves a high degree of customer interaction, and is deeply imbedded in Vinson’s sales process; consequently, this position requires excellent people skills, effective communication, self-motivation, and a high level of professionalism.
This position may require travel to Vinson regional offices and client sites including overnight stays.  Specific tasks required by this position include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Represent Vinson Process Controls and its principals to customers by providing technical product and commercial information for a diverse segment of Downstream industries including Refining, Food & Beverage, Semi-Conductor, Power, Chemical, Pulp & Paper, and other process related industries.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to increase market share in the designated territories, including identifying target accounts and generating sales forecasts.
  • Recognized as a technical expert for products and services focused on Steam applications, identification of competitive threats, and develop plans to differentiate the Vinson and Emerson product offering from the competition.
  • Support team sales efforts by building and maintaining relationships with end users and strategic distribution channel partners.
  • Provide technical training, product support, and process evaluation for performance improvement to customers and distributors.  Lead and host paid and non-paid customer training events and seminars specific to products, applications, and industry topics.
  • Identify, create, and maintain a funnel of new business opportunities with the intent of converting these pursuits to successful engagements.
  • Collaborate with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, and commercial end users to drive specifications and develop relationships at the decision-making level.
  • Conduct formal style presentations to highlight Emerson and Vinson’s products and services.
  • Ensure business growth and product initiative targets (revenue, margins, etc.) are being met. Assist in prioritizing capital investments including expected ROI for the business.
  • Utilize Vinson Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools for account planning, tracking sales activities, and generating accurate quotations. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support project submittals, installations, startups, and technical service.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market intelligence, and competitive offerings to drive localized marketing programs and strategies.
  • Support Sales Application Engineering with appointed duties to assist in focused selling activities and project pursuits.
  • Exemplify company culture while driving team synergies and alignment with Vinson Sales Manager’s objectives.

Education, Skills and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of technical sales experience in industrial product lines, preferably within the target industries.
  • Experience in consultative technical selling and conducting presentations to diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive without daily direction from the supervisor.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and CRM software
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Have an entrepreneurial approach and understanding of business strategies including sales focused processes.
  • Ability to recognize and capitalize on potential business opportunities (Opportunistic)
  • Communicate well internally and externally with a high level of customer service.
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and the ability to be a problem solver, with the preparedness and aptitude to figure out things on the fly.
  • Ability to take initiative and make independent judgements in high pressure situations.
  • Clear background check, valid driver's license, and clean driving record with willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
 
Physical and Mental:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English.
  • Must be able to work inside or outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or cold temperatures.
  • Ability to stand/walk for an entire workday.
  • Ability to climb multiple ladders and stairways throughout a workday.
  • Not have a fear of heights
  • Ability to travel via air and/or ground transportation as needed.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment without restriction which may include but not limited to hardhat, safety glasses, fire resistant clothing, safety-toed footwear, hearing protection, respiratory protection, etc. if requested by customer or required by safety policies.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish emergency and other alarms and respond according to prescribed procedures.
