Vinson is a leading distributor of industrial process control, pressure protection, control systems, and services in the southwest region of the US including North, East, West Texas, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas, and New Mexico. 
The Final Control Inside Sales/Applications Engineer serves as a pre-sales and post order resource to internal and external customers for technical and commercial information and solutions, which represents products from Emerson Automation Solutions and other recognized manufacturers supporting a variety of process control industries.  The effective Application Engineer will have an attention to detail in both customer requirements & objectives, as well as our technical offerings & capabilities to provide the best commercial solution communicated through proposal development.
  • Represent Vinson Process Controls and it’s principals to customers by providing technical product and commercial information for the Energy sectors of Oil and Gas, Refining, Power, Chemical, and other Process Industries.
  • Daily interface with customers via telephone, email, and in person for the proper selection of equipment and/or solutions, development and submittal of quotations, follow-up with customers and processing of customer orders.
  • Interact and provide support to Vinson Account Managers, Vinson management, and manufacturer contacts at manufacturers regarding customer quotations, account plans, competitive situations, technical solutions, applications, market tendencies, customer correspondence, inventory and delivery.
  • Provide a high level of technical assistance to customers in the selection, application, start-up and maintenance of products represented by Vinson.
  • Participate in a variety of training sessions on a periodic basis ranging from small group to large group presentations and development sessions.
  • Ensure the consistent implementation of effective Application Engineering practices and customer service guidelines for optimum performance and success of the organization.

Education, Skills and/or Experience:

  • Applicable technical and/or sales experience with engineered products in the industrial process control or oil and gas industry or equivalent engineering or operations experience in these industries.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or Industrial Distribution Degree from accredited university.
  • Commitment to providing a high level of customer service, demonstrates an entrepreneurial business acumen, AND can balance these goals to the mutual success of our customers and Vinson
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills in order to develop strong working relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage a demanding workload, take ownership of customer quotes and orders and adhere to deadlines.
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and the ability to be a problem solver, with the preparedness and aptitude to figure out things on the fly.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Basic PC skills and ability to utilize and learn various software applications such as MS Office and SAP

 Physical and Mental:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English
  • Ability to operate office machinery (telephone, copier, fax, PC)
  • Ability to comprehend complex information, perform math calculations, logical reasoning, and manage ambiguous situations
  • Overnight travel may be occasionally required for training purposes, customer events, and organizational meetings.

Shall be able to “walk through’ plant sites, including climbing ladders and being “safety” aware.
