Vinson is a leading distributor of industrial process control, pressure protection, control systems, and services in the southwest region of the US including North, East, West Texas, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas, and New Mexico.
 
Vinson is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will support core accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and contribute to continuous improvement of accounting and financial processes. This position requires a high level of confidentiality, professional judgement, and integrity when handling sensitive financial and business information.

  • Prepare, review, and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, account adjustments, and supporting documentation.
  • Perform accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
  • Manage general ledger activities and ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP.
  • Analyze monthly financial results, identify trends, investigate variances, and provide meaningful explanations to leadership.
  • Support P&L accountability by reviewing revenue, margins, operating expenses, and other key financial performance indicators.
  • Maintain strong quality control over financial transactions, reporting, and accounting processes.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal control policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate effectively with external auditors during financial reviews and audits.
  • Provide clear, well-reasoned guidance regarding internal accounting questions.
  • Evaluate current accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Implement new procedures, reporting tools, and process improvements to elevate efficiency and accuracy across the department.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to accounting team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties, analyses, and special projects as assigned to support the Accounting Department, business operations, and Company objectives.

Education, Skills and/or Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 
•    Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience preferred; 3 or more years required. 
•    CPA or CPA-eligible status.
•    Experience preparing financial statements and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. 
•    Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting best practices. 
•    Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting preferred. 
•    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools. 
•    Proficiency with accounting software; SAP experience preferred. 
•    Demonstrated ability to work with general ledger systems, ERP platforms, and reporting tools. 
•    Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information and communicate insights clearly. 
•    Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and provide excellent internal support to business partners. 
•    Demonstrated ability to operate with integrity, sound judgment, confidentiality, and a continuous improvement mindset.

•    Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time. 
•    Ability to comprehend complex information from internal and external customers.
•    Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English.
•    Ability to operate office machinery (telephone, copier, PC)
•    Ability to perform math calculations.
•    Ability to occasionally move files, documents, and office materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
•    Ability to travel occasionally for meetings, training, audits, or company events, if required.
